Helm is a package manager for Kubernetes. Instead of applying dozens of YAML files by hand, you install a chart, a package of templated manifests with default settings, and Helm renders and applies them for you. Current Helm runs entirely as a client: it talks to the Kubernetes API with your kubeconfig and stores release records as Secrets in the release's namespace, so your RBAC permissions apply.
