Affinity lets a Pod choose nodes. Taints work the other way round: they let a node refuse Pods. A taint is a key, an optional value and an effect set on a node. Only Pods with a matching toleration can ignore it. A toleration does not attract a Pod to a node; it merely permits scheduling there.
