Pending Pods: FailedScheduling messages for resources, taints, affinity and unbound PVCs

A Pod in Pending has not been placed on a node, or has been placed but not yet started. When the scheduler cannot place it, it records a FailedScheduling event, and reading that message carefully usually tells you the exact fix. Run kubectl describe pod <name> and look at the Events at the bottom.
