Kubernetes releases a new minor version (1.x) regularly, and kubeadm supports upgrading only one minor version at a time. To go from 1.33 to 1.35 you upgrade to 1.34 first. Patch versions within a minor can be skipped. The exam frequently gives you a cluster one minor behind and asks you to upgrade the control plane and a worker.
