Organizations communicate through many channels, and each one can leak data or let attackers in. The CISSP outline asks you to implement secure communication channels according to design, covering voice, video and collaboration, remote access, data communications and connections with third parties. The goal is that every channel has known endpoints, authenticated participants, protected content and a record of use. Channels are chosen in the design phase, so security requirements such as encryption strength, retention and who may join should be written down before tools are bought, not bolted on after staff are already using them.
