Resource protection covers the assets operations teams handle every day: hardware, software and especially the media that store information, including hard drives, solid-state drives (SSDs), tapes, USB drives, optical discs, mobile devices and printed documents. Media carry data wherever they go, so they must be protected through their whole lifecycle, from acquisition through use, storage, transport and reuse to final destruction. A single lost backup tape or discarded drive can be a reportable breach.
