A disaster recovery plan (DRP) describes how to restore IT systems and data after a disruptive event such as a fire, flood, major outage or cyberattack. Where the business continuity plan (BCP) keeps critical business functions operating, the DRP focuses on the technology that supports them. A plan that has never been tested is little better than no plan, because contact lists go stale, systems change and people forget their roles. That is why DR testing is a major exam topic.
