Frameworks give you a proven structure and common vocabulary so you do not have to invent a program from scratch. They help you explain your program to auditors, customers and regulators, and they make it easier to compare yourself with others. CISM does not test framework details deeply, but you must know what each major framework is for and when you would choose it.
