Much IT processing happens without anyone pressing a button. Batch jobs run overnight to post transactions, calculate interest, apply payments or produce reports, and interfaces move data between systems all day. If these automated processes fail, run twice, run out of order or are altered, the damage can be large and quiet, because nobody is watching each step. Auditors care because many financial and operational controls rely on these jobs running correctly and completely.
