The business impact analysis (BIA) identifies critical business processes, the resources they depend on, and the impact of losing them over time. Every later decision about continuity and recovery, from backup frequency to the type of recovery site, depends on its results. Without a BIA, recovery plans are guesses, and money is often spent protecting the wrong systems.
