Reading a network diagram to patch the right cable into the right port

A network diagram is a map of how devices connect. Support technicians are often asked to connect, move or replace a cable according to a diagram, and plugging into the wrong port can put a device in the wrong VLAN, create a loop or take down a link. Reading the diagram carefully and matching it to the physical labels is how you avoid that.
