Traditionally, each switch, router, firewall and access point was configured individually, usually by command line over console or SSH, and monitored with separate tools. Cloud-managed networking changes this: devices connect over the internet to a vendor-hosted management platform, and administrators configure and monitor the whole network through a single web dashboard. Cisco Meraki is the best-known example, with its dashboard managing Meraki switches, access points, security appliances, cameras and more.
