Cable management and labeling in racks and patch panels

In a wiring closet or data center, hundreds of cables may run between patch panels, switches, servers and power strips. Good cable management and labeling make it possible to find the right cable in seconds, trace problems, keep equipment cool and avoid unplugging the wrong thing. Poor management, the tangle sometimes called spaghetti cabling, leads to outages and slow repairs.
