SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) lets a network management system (NMS) monitor devices. Each device runs an SNMP agent that exposes data organized in a MIB (Management Information Base), a tree of objects each identified by an OID (object identifier), such as interface counters or CPU utilization. SNMP is still the most widely supported monitoring protocol, and ENCOR tests its versions, security and message types.
