EtherChannel bundles two or more physical Ethernet links between the same two devices into one logical link, called a port channel. It increases bandwidth and provides redundancy: if one member fails, traffic moves to the others without a topology change. Just as important, spanning tree treats the bundle as a single link, so all members forward instead of all but one being blocked.
