Embedded Event Manager (EEM) is automation that runs on the Cisco IOS or IOS XE device itself. It watches for events and responds with actions, without an external server. It is useful for reacting instantly to problems, collecting diagnostic data at the moment something happens, and enforcing simple rules. EEM supports applets, written in configuration mode, and Tcl scripts; ENCOR focuses on applets.
