Nested virtualization means running Hyper-V inside a Hyper-V virtual machine, so that VM can host its own VMs. It is used for labs and training, testing Hyper-V clusters without extra hardware, running Windows containers with Hyper-V isolation inside a VM, and building environments in Azure. Performance is lower than on bare metal, so it is generally used for development, test and training rather than heavy production.
