Hybrid identity means one set of user identities used both on-premises (in AD DS) and in the cloud (in Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure AD). A synchronization engine copies users, groups and optionally devices from AD DS to Entra ID, and a sign-in method decides where passwords are checked. Microsoft offers two sync tools, and the exam expects you to know when to choose each.
