With a physical server you can walk up to the console. With an Azure VM you can't, so Azure gives you remote equivalents. When a Windows Server VM won't start properly or you can't connect with RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), you should know which tool to reach for: boot diagnostics, Serial Console, Run Command or redeploy.
