Azure File Sync lets you keep using Windows file servers that users know, while Azure Files becomes the central, authoritative copy of the data. Each file server acts like a fast local cache. That gives you branch-office performance, easy disaster recovery (a new server can re-sync from the cloud) and, with cloud tiering, far less local disk.
