A storage account is the top-level container for Azure Storage services: blobs, files, queues and tables. When you create one you choose a globally unique name (3 to 24 lowercase letters and numbers, which becomes part of endpoints such as name.blob.core.windows.net), a region, a performance tier and a redundancy option. Performance and redundancy are the two decisions the exam tests most, because they determine latency, which features you get, how your data survives failures and what you pay.
